Vedic Math Method

During my B.Sc., the final year of college study, I learned a new innovative method of teaching called the “Vedic Math Method”. I would like to share how I gained knowledge in Vedic Maths. Vedic maths is an Indian Traditional method to do mathematical calculations in a short-cut and faster way. It is one of the world’s fastest ways of calculating. On one fine day, when I was attending one of the Real Analysis classes taught by Professor Augustine, who was the Head of the Department of Mathematics of our college in the year 1995, solved a difficult-level maths problem with five pages solution. On observing the solution to that problem, at the end of the lesson, I approached Professor Augustin and asked him if there was any easier way to solve such a lengthy problem. The Professor replied to me that there is an ancient Mathematics called Vedic Mathematics discovered by Indians which is a collection of 16 Sutras and 13 Sub-Sutras to solve mathematical arithmetic in an easy and faster way and by applying Vedic Maths, we could solve any kind of Maths problems in a simple, faster, and short-cut way. He recommended me a book by the name Vedic Mathematics written by Jagadguru Swami Sri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji Maharaja. His reply made me very curious about those methods and I was really eager to learn those methods right away then. But, as I was not afforded to buy that book, I approached my Tamil language Professor Dr. Kamalakannan (Mobile Number: 94435-17659) of our college who had been the President of Erode District Library Readers Association, to help me get that book from the District Library. On my request, Dr. Kamalakannan helped me to enroll as a member of Erode District Library to access the books therefrom. After I became a member of the District Library, I used to go to the library every weekend and read and learned all methods in the Vedic Maths book and mastered them all. Those methods have been very useful in my teaching even today. Later it was the inspiration for me to do a Ph.D., in Vedic Mathematics at Atlantic International University, USA. Since then I have been applying all of those Vedic Math methods in my lessons to solve Calculus and other mathematical problems. These methods are very simple and easy for my students to do all Math calculations in short-cut and faster ways. I have been applying lots of Vedic Maths methods in my lessons to solve mathematical problems which are welcomed and liked by my students until today. I am proud to say that I am the first teacher who introduced Indian Vedic Mathematics in Chinese schools for the first time and was awarded the Excellency Teaching Awards of the years 2016 & 2017 by the Government of China for successive two years. Generally, Chinese students are smart in Mathematics, so teaching this new innovative method makes them enthusiastic and active. This fast and simple method of calculation is a feast for Chinese students to learn math with more interest and fun. I have been writing a book titled “The World’s easiest way of solving mathematical problems”. I will complete writing the book shortly. If I win the Global Teacher Prize-2023, I have planned to implement Vedic Mathematics in all school and college curricula in India with the help of our Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to make students learning easier and more fun.
